Puraflo alternative septic system

I'm shopping for a house. The house at the top of my list has the Puraflo peat moss septic system. I've been hearing horror stories about how expensive they are and how often they break.
I thought surely somebody out there in the MFP Community must have one of these things or maybe you know someone who knows someone...
