Throwing out the Fitbit

I have been focusing on weight loss and maintenance for years. I have used numerous different trackers, and after successfully losing 100lbs, and then gaining 30lbs back, I have decided to get back on track. I would be an idiot to let myself slip back to my heaviest of 255lbs.

It has been a month of exercising, and tracking. Honestly, I am sick of the trackers. I currently use a fitbit charge HR 2. I don't trust it. Not like how I trusted my Bodymedia Band...remember those?

Something about it just feels...inaccurate. Does anyone find this true for them?

Anyway, I have decided that today, I am sticking with my classic calorie amount that I got started with waaaay back many years ago. Scooby's TDEE calculator. It worked! It would be nice to just stick with 1 number and just focus on that, instead of daily fluctuating depending on how many calories I burn and what my fitbit is telling me to eat.

I also apologize if my post sounds terrible...I just worked a 12 hour night shift.

I am glad to be back. I love you guys.

Lots of people find it easier to use the TDEE minus a percentage method.

    Whatever works, I say.

I lost almost all my 70 pounds with no devices. I did break down and buy both a food scale and a body weight scale for that last 25 pounds and I still use them eleven years in.

Welcome back, good job catching it at 30 pounds instead of 40. :)

Exactly!!! I turned all of mine off about 18 months ago and found it to be liberating.

When cycling the trail, if I get a phone call, I can stop and take it...
When running the trail, I can stop and chat with a friend for a few minutes...

My workouts might take a little longer, but they became more enjoyable. Instead of tracking apps my only apps play awesome workout tunes.

I use the parts I want to use and don't use the parts I don't want to use.

Day to day, I prefer a fixed calorie goal. I only use the Fitbit and MFP calories to look back through the data and see the big picture.

What I use during the day on the Fitbit are my step goal, pulse, and active minutes. I enjoy playing with the active minutes.

Oh I feel you! I used to wear mine all day, but now I only use it during workouts, and eat about 1/2 of the exercise calories it tells me. I don't fully trust it, but it's a good guess for me so far.
