Does anyone know if peanuts are as healthy as other nuts such as walnuts and almonds? I have read of the many health benefits of walnuts and almonds, but not as much about peanuts. Just curious to know if any of you have any info...Thanks!

a few more bits found on the internet...
""They are both good for you, almonds have a fair amount of calcium though and more vitamin E than peanuts. ""
""i think there are more people advocating the goodness of almonds cause they contain more folic acid, which prevents the building up of fatty plaque in arteries. mainly, they help to prevent high cholesterol and promote cardiovascular health (as well as cancer). peanuts are also pretty good stuff to eat, but the main issue with them is that they're more likely to come either highly sugared or salted than almonds (that usually are just blanched, slightly salted, or honey roasted.) I personally love shelled pistachios, just for the fact that they take longer to eat and keep me full. Not sure how they rate nutrition wise compared to other nuts however.0

If you have thyroid issues, I would say stay away from them. Something in the peanut blocks the uptake of the thyroid med. Soy has the same component...just can't remember the name.0

I won't compare peanuts to almonds, wal-nuts, etc.................peanuts are legumes, not nuts.
My favorite nuts are pecans, Macadamia nuts and pistachios..........
I haven't eaten peanuts or peanut butter in months. I gave up all legumes and beans, so peanut butter went right with it.0 -
Peanuts are toxic in their raw state & many people have allergies to peanuts soooo there is something in there that the human body doesn't like. I would avoid....besides almonds are amazing!! Oh and yeah pistachio0
