I had some decent luck yesterday with mine.

I shredded the potatoes and soaked them for about an hour in water. I drained them and changes the water twice during that time. Once soaked, put them in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze them until they are dry. The key is getting some of the starch out and getting the potatoes dry. I than mixed them with a bit of flour and spices and put them on a baking try lined with parchment paper. Baked until cooked. They were mostly crispy. I've had the best luck with a bit of oil but I believe a non stick pan will work as well if you don't want to make them.

If you don't want to use full calorie oil you can buy cooking sprays that are extremely low calories. You wouldn't need a lot so it wouldn't add many calories.
