It was a great miserable day.

I got to the ski area, it was 34F and raining hard. The parking lot was full of slush and standing water. I was soaked before I got to the trail.
There was one other skier there, I could tell from the lone Subaru when I arrived, and from marks in the snow. Which I was leaving too. We never saw each other, but kept leaving tracks at trail junctions, it was like two animals communicating by marking trees.
Other skier was more timid than I am, and never did the roller coaster trail. So I had it all to myself. Perfectly groomed and undisturbed, fresh courdury. It doesn't get any better.
The rain made the trails heavy and firm - fast skiing. And there was no one in my way! I got my best time (of 3 years) on one trail: 33 minutes for 3.7 miles with about 400 feet of elevation gain.
Don't let bad weather keep you indoors.

So glad you enjoyed your day.
There is no way with the wind and torrential rain this side of the border you could have got me out.
Never mind my one attempt at skiing had me close to hysterical- not laughing either.
It does sound just your cup of tea- you and the great outdoors.
Cheers, h.
ETA: Any pics2 -
I love these type of posts. Congrats on your best time. Seems a lot of people don't want to leave their homes in the winter.
I just finished a night hike. There was snow, ice and mud. In the 30s so not bad temp wise, but there was a killer cold wind. Only saw 4 other people on the trail. I loved every second!3 -
My best outdoor adventures, my most memorable stores all have one thing in common - horrible weather. Adverse conditions make for strong bonds.1

This post made me think about how I have those moments of thoughts when it's a lone human being and I wonder if they're thinking the same thing that I'm thinking about them, that were alone out here doing the same thing but not seeing each other, (like in your case leaving foot prints but not running into eachother).... if this even makes any sense at all lol2

I'm so jealous of you!
I now live near two ski hills (30min drive each) and took Wed-Fri off this week to start the year with some skiing. But it's been much too warm for the season, all the snow that fell in mid-December has melted, and 0/48 slopes are skiable.
I would go no matter what weather. I only learned to ski one year ago. Out of maybe 10 days on the slope, I only had one sunny one. I think I wouldn't even know what to do with good weather ^^
Enjoy your snow1
