As a newbie I am amazed at the sodium levels in food. I have to carry water weight due to this. is it possible to reduce it from food?

Unless you have health reasons for reducing salt intake, it's likely nothing to worry about. Remember that the water weight that you might be retaining from a high sodium meal is just that - water - and has nothing to do with fat gain or loss.1

I had to reduce my sodium intake to 1000mg a day due to kidney issues. Daile heart healthy rec 1500mg. So watching sodium has made me realize I was eating 3000mg a day or more and I do not snack ..it came from eating out. Start looking it up on what you eat and you might be shocked on your intake.0

Your water weight is constantly fluctuating to deal with all sorts of bodily functions and conditions, and you need some sodium. But if for whatever reason you want to reduce the amount of sodium in your diet, just read labels. It's mostly processed foods that would be unusually high in sodium, so if you cook more whole foods yourself it should be fairly easy to reduce.
If your only concern is water weight affecting the scale though, I'm not sure it will make a noticeable difference.1
