Starting again

Hello everyone and Happy New Year. It seems to be the time of year everyone starts trying to improve themselves. For me this is more coincidental than anything else.
Almost 8 years ago I weighed about 293 pounds and my first son was born. O also wanted a job that required me to lose about 95 pounds to fit within a certain BMI and body fat %
I started on the journey and aver the next two years I lost 95 pounds and got down to 198. I was so stoked. Unfortunately I didn't get the job. This was upsetting and I stopped caring about what I ate and my exercise diminished to almost nothing.
Over the next 6 years I gained back most of the weight. Due to my bad attitude and very poor food decisions I developed gallstones. I had a bad attack in late September and found out a lot of the stomach discomfort I'd been having over the past year was probably the Gallstones.
On the 27th my Gallbladder was removed. I was in significant pain for the first few days and very uncomfortable after. I was only eating about 800 calories a day for about a week just because I didn't feel right. I am finally feeling human again and am tracking what I eat with this app. I'm not ready for any strenuous exercise but am going to start some light cardio tonight.
I am ashamed of allowing myself to gain the weight back. It was just plain dumb. But, I'm here now and I have to accept it. My goal is to get under 12% body fat (maybe less) and build as much muscle as possible. I am not sure if I should set timelines or just work hard and let it happen. Either way it's going to happen before I develop any other health problems.

Timelines are generally a bad idea because let's say you lost 10 pounds in 4 months as opposed to 3 months. A 10 pound loss is success not failure!
Just make consistent changes and the weight will come off. It's not a race.......it's the rest of your life. You don't need strenuous exercise. Sure, exercise is good for your health, but it's not the big calorie burner most people think it is. Just find a way to eat less.1
