Hello, just started mfp 3 weeks ago and love it. I never realized how much and how non nutritious the food I eat. I actually stop eating any food that I am unable to calculate calories for. I also eliminated somewhat processed sugar, I still havent cut out ice cream. I added exercise and now Im starting to enjoy it. Anyways just chiming in the intro section and feel free to connect. My goal is to loose 75lb.

That's terrific! I've been here 4 years, and I'm still grateful for all this site has taught me about my diet.

What food can you not calculate calories for?

Like cheese and bread from a local bakery or certain homemade soups. I am now weighing many foods and calculating what serving size to mfp database. Its been working for me so far that way.

If you make homemade soups (or any homemade recipe), you can use the recipe builder in MFP. It's found under the food tab. It's a great tool to use for finding healthy alternatives too.

Ditching the processed sugar is an amazing place to start.

Don't be afraid to estimate calories when you're at a place you can't get an exact match. However, try to overestimate calories, it's too easy to underestimate.

But getting into the habit of weighing foods is great for the day to day meal planning. If you're able to be accurate 6 out of 7 days per week, then one meal where you "guessed" the macros won't be an issue. It's when those "guessed" meals start outnumbering the other ones when it's easy to take a step backwards.

    Well done

Also, second the recommendation above. I have a lot of my own created recipe's for foods I tend to make a lot. Like salads
