Anyone use this cookbook I found it in my closet and was hoping someone could explain what the exchanges are for under the nutrition info

Two quotes I found in descriptions:
Amazon: "Food exchanges (based on the American Diabetes Association's exchanges) listed with every recipe."
Barnes and Noble: "Food exchanges with every recipe offers flexibility in meal planning"0 -
Once upon a time, the American Diabetes Association used exchanges to help people build a healthy diet. Really, just a fancy name for servings of veg, protein, etc.0

Yeah, Weight Watchers took that idea and ran with it on their pre-points programs for a while. So, 1oz of bread=4oz potato=1/2 cup cooked pasta, etc etc0

So I can just ignore it but the nutrition info stays the same right1
