Menopause health

Hi there, I'm 54 and lost my high level corporate job, while in menopause, after 19 years of high performance reviews. Drag. I've been out of work for 18 months in Silicon Valley, where the unemployment for people at my level is 1.1%. Also a drag. I decided to get over it by taking up fitness classes at my local community college. I've been doing yoga, strength training and cardio three times a week for eight months. I am fit, and I feel a lot better after starting HRT, but that middle bit around my waist is like an alien being. It doesn't feel like part of my body. So I have to work harder at paying attention to food intake. So far I like keeping a food diary, it may help me to make better choices and to curb snacking. I didn't want to write down eating a bite of muffin! Unfortunately for that muffin, well, I ate the whole thing. It was easier to record a whole muffin (440 calories!!) than a bite, lol. I learned by doing, that food has a huge impact on menopause symptoms. Before starting HRT, I stopped eating almost everything, and then added items in bit by bit. From that, I gave up: Alcohol, processed deli meats, anything with maltodextrin (that one sends my symptoms into the stratosphere), and basically any manufactured food. Fresh, organic food without preservatives or added salt makes me feel better. HRT masks the symptoms from food preservatives, but I know that my body does not respond well to these things, so I feel better by avoiding them as much as possible. Thanks for this cool tool! ~ Tracey
