Logging Insanity workouts

Hi All,

Just wondered what the best way to log and insanity work out was, i can't find it anywhere in the exercise list on MFP and want the closest thing to it so i can monitor my diet and exercise most accurately!

Thanks!

Get yourself a heart rate monitor and create your own under cardio in the My Exercise tab.

I've seen some people log it as circuit training.

I just started Insanity. I am doing the same thing I did when I used to attend a Crossfit gym. I just throw out an estimate of calories I burned - usually 200-300 for a good 40 minute workout. I'm light, so I know I'm not going to be burning thousands of calories.

The way I see it, if I really like the program, complete it, and want to continue doing it, then I may buy a good HRM.

I have read that the average 40-42 min workout is 500-700 cal. I didn't use a heart rate monitor for while as well, but I have now purchased one. Using the online calculators I am burning about 700 calories per workout. But I do weigh 280 lbs, so with a workout time of 40 min at an average heart rate of 145-150 burns about 700 calories. If you can afford it, get a heart rate monitor (one with a chest strap). They work pretty slick.

If you have a smartphone with a camera download the Runtastic HRM Pro (its only a couple bucks), I've compared it with multiple HRMs and it's pretty darn accurate. I check my HR anytime we take a break. Now that being said..there's an app called Insanity Tracker and you can enter in your weight, average HR, height (i believe), and how long the workout was and it calculates how many calories you burned. Then I just create my own exercise in MFP.

It sounds like it could be a pain, but its not. I can't quite afford the HRM I want, so these work until I can get my hands on one.

(oh I forgot to add, I have an android if that makes a difference. Idk if those apps would be available for an iPhone).
