What is realistic?

Hey all, I have been on an weight loss Journey for a little over a year and a half now, and I am down almost 70 pounds. Is it realistic to say that I would like to lose the last 15 by December? It is just that I know that the last 20 or so are so hard to take off...

I think if you keep it at a pound per week, you will get very close. The last 10 pounds should really be done at a slighter deficit (1/2 pound per week) to get you used to the extra calories before you move to maintenance... but if it's something you really want, I don't think it will hurt to keep it at 1lb/week. Just remember that the number on the scale doesn't define you. Be happy with how far you've come.0

I think that is a realistic goal. I mean that's about 4 months away. That means you would need to loose about 3 pounds per month which is a little less than a pound per week. Set that as your goal but don't get discouraged if you don't quite make it. I think you will either make it or come super close. You are doing great!!!0

It depends on how fast you lose. For me, it would probably not be at all realistic as it's taken me over a year to lose 22 pounds. But many people - probably most -- lose much faster than that. I wouldn't plan to lose more than one pound a week and don't feel bad if you don't even hit that. Everyone is somewhat different in how they lose weight. A lot depends on your age, your eating plan, your exercise plan, and a lot more.
Is it realistic? Sure. But don't be disappointed if you don't achieve it. I prefer little goals. I'd break it down into two smaller goals of 7 pounds each.0 -

Congrats!! Technically, about half of that would be realistic for the amount of weight you have to lose. And as someone else mentioned, the lower deficit would provide an easier transition to maintenance. BUT, I think with some hard work and careful planning it could be possible. Just keep working at it and don't beat yourself up too much if you don't quite get there.
Personally, I prefer goals focused on healthy eating and exercise. Like planning to do so many miles or steps per day/week/month or planning to eat more fruits and veggies. Weight can be fickle, especially when you're closer to goal.0 -
If you want, you can add me. I'm kind of in the same boat as you. Well actually I'm starting with the "last 20" because I only have about 20 pounds to lose and I already exercise quite a bit, I just need to cut the calories and eat healthy. It's going very very slowly but sweetly.0
