    I find WhatsApp far inferior to the classic Japanese App KakaoTalk.

    I used it like crazy when I lived abroad. A lot of my friends there used it to rather than having to pay for texting/calling.

    WhatsApp is used a lot overseas, where I am. It's great for keeping in touch with family and friends at a low cost. My mother, 90 yrs old, got it so she could video call me for free. I can send her photos of the great grandkids and videos of them. Things have changed. 32 yrs ago I moved to Italy, and we had one very expensive call a month plus letters. Progress my man.
