Hi, my name is Jon I live in North wales in the UK and am 38yo I currently weigh around 146 kg(not weighed in a while) and am looking to make a BIG CHANGE.........
5 years ago I was 120kg and had great cardio ability due to an obsession with mountain biking.....however, since then I've had kids, the biking is out the window and besides work I don't do much in terms of physical activity.
I have decided I AM going to loose it again, I'd like to actually get lower than I was 5 years ago, but my target is to try and get back to 120 for my birthday at beginning of May. I have just built a small gym in my shed nd no need to figure out the best plan for using equipment effectively........
IDEALLY, my plan is to loose a ton of weight, then get "shredded" but I think the best plan is to concentrate on loosing the pounds first before thinking about building muscle to much?
I have been tracking everything I eat etc. For the last week or so and have set my calorie intake to 1900. I am finding it hard to get my macros to the suggested levels, usually fat is low protein low and carb high.
Anyway I've probably rambled on enough. I hope to speak to some of you soon 🙂

That's a pretty aggressive rate of loss. It might be better to lose it slower - you'll be more likely to be able to retain more muscle that way.
Welcome to MFP, and good luck reaching your goals.0 -
Thank you. And yes, possibly slower would be better, at the moment I am still trying to research the best way to tackle my overall goals.
I'm not sure about muscle retention? Are you saying if I manage to loose weight To fast that it will be muscle I'm loosing rather than fat?
If that's the case then presumably some strength training would be an idea to keep the muscle?0
