The database is user-sourced. If there is cholesterol, the likelihood is

    1) The person entering it was entering a non-vegan version of the product
    2) The label the person was using was in error (i.e. the product may have been vegetarian at one point, became vegan, and the label hadn't been updated or the person had been using the older version of the product and not created a new/edited an existing entry)
    3) If processed, the product may be vegan in some regions, vegetarian in others. Recipes are often adapted to different markets.

If there is no existing correct entry in the database, you can add your own.

Unfortunately, the "verified" green check marks in the MFP database are used for both user-created entries and system entries that MFP pulled from the USDA database. To find system entries for whole foods, I get the syntax from the USDA database and plug that into MFP.
