I just came across this interesting study. Yes, it's a year old or so, but I hadn't seen it before.

Basically, large weight loss results in a slowed metabolism, even if lean body mass is maintained carefully during weight loss. This leads to difficulty maintaining.
Also could be why I'm currently maintaining on a number several hundred calories less than would be expected for my age/gender/weight/exercise.
Thoughts?
