Good to be here

It's good to be in this community, and great to be feeling healthier. I'm a 6'5" male, who until recently was tipping the scales at over 300 lbs. I haven't enjoyed being that weight, but have also been falling for the fallacies of how many calories I eat.

Recently, I read this article:

https://theguardian.com/society/2019/jan/05/truth-obesity-five-fat-myths-debunked?CMP=fb_gu&fbclid=IwAR1Rxc8Htp-l12908FTJ-pSbNnE8tUHli925_2BAiumcVqGHmx9hqb_yKIM

And Myth 1 hit me like a tank. Of course I have been underestimating my calorie intake, and have found a myriad of excuses to think I was doing fine, even though all the evidence was to the contrary.

I'm down 21 lbs so far, my first goal is to reach a BMI below 30 (about 245 lbs), and then go from there. I'm feeling better, sleeping better, and feeling happier too. I have to battle my excuse making every so often, and I also have to remind myself that overall I am doing very well.

Wishing everyone a healthy time!
