Only if it's a major chain or franchise that's required by law to post nutrition information. Otherwise, it's unreliable. I generally use a similar item from a chain if I don't see it.

Not sure what you mean by requesting a menu from a restaurant on MFP. If it's a chain/franchise restaurant you can look up their menu online and they will provide calories. There are numerous database entries for various items from various restaurants.

If it is a local establishment with less than 20 locations, it is not required by law to provide nutritional information.

On the restaurant feature it says to request menu I click on that and it says menu has been requested

That’s a function to have the database pull up the already loaded menu from the restaurant you’re searching. Not meant to request that they get one for a specific business.

They do phrase it like you can request a menu. However, it's apparently just a request to be notified if the menu information is added in the future. I highly doubt that anyone from MFP is following up on these requests.

Yeah, I was short in my response but basing it on that info. I don't think they'll follow up on it either. I used a function a few times when it was released and nothing ever happened. That was years ago.

ETA: I don't think the intent ended up in the execution.

Would be nice to be wrong on this though. I have more requests!

Yeah, I did it once or twice when it was rolled out. Never got a response of any kind.

I've emailed local restaurants or messaged their Facebook pages. While they don't generally know the calories, they've been able to point me toward the lower-cal options on their menus. Then I check the database and go for something around the middle of the range.
