Canada's new Food Guide

The new Food Guide in Canada was recently released:

https://food-guide.canada.ca/en/

Curious to know everyone's thoughts, there's a lot of praise and a lot of criticism. People who think the dairy and meat should be even further reduced, some not happy with how meat and dairy have shrunk, some who think it was a good move. Some who like the emphasis on cooking more and some who found it condescending.

I kind of like it, I still don't get the equating chocolate milk being as bad as things like juice and soda that's gone along with the new guide.

It is what it is. Some good, some controversial. Changes occur. I’m not 100% on board with the the dairy.
I guess they are concerned about there being more sugar in chocolate milk, comparing it to juice and pop.

I’m not Canadian, but the guidelines are pretty much what I’m eating, so it makes sense to me.

I think it's good-it matches pretty closely to what WHO recommends, what the DASH protocol promotes (which is a heavily researched and the recommended way of eating for better health, especially heart health, by many doctors etc), and it also lines up with the newer recommendations for '10 a Day' vegetable and fruit, that came out of the big meta study from the Imperial College London. It also reflects the eating pattern of the Blue Zones, to an extent.

It still includes dairy and meat, but emphasis vegetables and fruit, whole grains etc. It also encourages getting protein from plant sources, which I think is great. This lines up with the new WHO commissioned review, about higher fiber diets and better health markers.
