I'm trying to get started on a weight loss plan. What seems to work for most people when it comes to diet? I need something I will stick with.

everyone is different. but at the end of the day to lose weight you need to eat less than your body uses regularly and over a good period of time.

variosu people pick different ways of eating (WOE`s) to achieve this. but regardless how (or when) one eats, it`s all about CICO (calories in calories out).

i put my stats in MFP and followed the recommended calorie goal (plus exercise calories). i personally prefer to eat MORE food (volume eating) so i eat lots of veggies with each meal. others prefer more carbs, or less carbs or more fat...whatever helps keep you full. Some people eat during restricted windows in the day (Intermittent fasting) i do the OPPOSITE and eat like every 3 hours :P

Something you can see yourself sticking with (forever) is crucial! Let MFP give you your calorie goal and then give yourself to experiment for a few weeks to skee what will work for you.

I found if very helpful to preplan/prelog my day so I could be sure I would be within calorie allowance. Then I experimented with food until I got a general idea of how to allocate calories among carbs, protein and fat to assure that I did not get too hungry or too tired. It took me several weeks to work this out, but after I did it has been pretty smooth sailing.

Good luck ... and give yourself time to work this out.

Eating the foods you enjoy but keeping them within your calorie goal. Not always easy but it does work and it is sustainable.

Fried foods, denied foods. Just a prelude to my bad mood.
I want some Burger King and onion rings. And some sugar powdered sweetened things.
My malady is my calories. I can’t go over my dietary salary.
I gotta eat right, eat less, eat light, eat best. Exercise and exorcise my yearnings.
    Stay inside my dietary earnings.
I keep up my morale by logging into My Fitness Pal,
where I can then rationale my strife for better health.
Amassing a world of athletic wealth.
So to all of us in this fight, in this dietary righteous plight,
here we can all unite and learn to eat the foods that’s right.
