Joggers

Looking for others that are new or professional at jogging. I am fresh but have fallen into the deepest love I've felt in forever. So deep that I've spent money to run 😂 dedicated myself to a 5k run in May and I've been training as safely as I can.

Anyways, add me and let's support one another in this awesome endeavor

Just started jogging myself. Never thought it would be for me but really surprised at how much I’m enjoying it. I could do with new running trainers but money is a bit tight, saving for a family visit to America! Any tips on affordable trainers welcome.

I fell in love with it last summer and did a 10k, a night run, a 5 mile, and a half marathon last year for races. Now I'm training for my first marathon in May. I've seen a lot of improvements in my aerobic fitness and split times.

If you are getting back into it, try a C25K app (I used Zenn Labs one). Take it slow, get the right shoes and have fun.

Just be warned that it is an addiction and you may find yourself spending more money on "things" then makes rational sense (or is that just me?)

So not just you. I decided I needed a new pair of shoes this week, just because the ones I've been using weren't cushioned enough (same brand model got me through a marathon). Then I've sent my other half out today to buy me several types of Nakd style bar for me to try on runs. Then there's the running belt, the chest light, the socks, the bodyglide....and it goes on and on

What's this "rational sense" of which you speak???

    Shoes.
running socks (cuz normal socks just don't do)
running tights (it's cold up here in Canada)
compression underwear (helps keep the "boyz" in place)
Compression shirts (one day I hope to not have floppy belly fat and stop wearing these)
wireless earbuds (cuz the wires annoyed me)
    running watch
foot pod to give the watch more info (still thinking of a chest strap)
chest light for early morning runs so I'm seen (when not on the TM)
    headlamp so I can see
    water belt

They're called buffs, I have loads. I fold one as a headband to keep my ears warm or soak up sweat on my head. Another round my neck that either keeps my neck warm or again soaks up sweat, but if the air is particularly cold I pull it up over my mouth so the air gets warmed before it hits my lungs.

As for clothes, I'm officially considered crazy and run all year round in shorts with long compression socks. Have crop tops for running in summer, long sleeved compression top for winter which i wear with either a t shirt or gillet. I used to have a waterproof jacket but decided it makes me too hot so now by just get wet.
I have 3 different pairs of gloves, my pretty ones for when I'm just running, my thermal ones when it's below 0 and the ones I use when burpees or press ups are likely to be involved.
Trainers I have the new less than a week old pair that are in the process of being broken in and are only being used for short runs. Then there's the pair that will be graduating to long run status on Sunday unless it's too wet muddy, in which case the trainers that were long run trainers will be used. And then there's the mud coated pair that were the muddy long run trainers that have been retired to bootcamp status.
(I also have 2 pairs of non runner trainers that are for the gym and class).
I've bought myself a pair of yak Trax in case we have a Re-run on beast from the east and also 2 pairs of trail shoes just in case.
I have a running belt that holds my phone, keys, emergency money etc, but also a hydration back pack that gets used for long runs when it's hot (can't hold water bottles they make my shoulders ache).
3 sets of Bluetooth earphones, each has different battery capacity and depending on the run I sometimes need to take 2 pairs out with me.
Chest/ back light so I can see and be seen. Flashing trainer lights so not to give drivers any way to say they haven't seen me.
Vivoactive 3 to log my runs and workouts.
Tried countless types of gel and sweet before deciding that I prefer chopped up nakd bars.

But hey this is a free/cheap hobby...... don't think so
