Feeling Good?

When I started MFP in September I also joined the Y-
In that time I lost 5 pounds- 3” off my waist
I was never athletic and find going to the Y something I have to do
Most people I know who work out say they feel much better when they do and if they miss going they don’t feel as good
I don’t..... and I’m not sure why
I’m usually there 3X a week... sometimes yoga other times weights and floor exercises
About an hour
I’ve actually gained some back too ☹️
What’s up with the lack of adrenaline?

I feel better doing workouts I enjoy. For me-that’s being outside and running, biking, hiking, etc. I tolerate some indoor workouts. I feel much better after I spend time moving outside and getting fresh air. I feel a little better after moving around and doing a tolerable indoor workout. I’m generally unimpressed with the universe after doing workouts I actively dislike (but need to do - like strength training).

Many other people are exactly the opposite and can’t wait to go lift weights and loathe doing cardio.

So I would ask if you enjoy what you’re doing? And if not, is there something else you can try?

People who feel better with exercise are typically doing things they enjoy doing. I feel fantastic after a nice outdoor road or trail ride on my bike...all the fresh air, scenery, and moving. I feel pretty indifferent when I'm forced to get on my indoor bike trainer due to in-climate weather and such. I feel great after a nice hike or a swim...pretty indifferent after droning away on some piece of indoor stationary equipment.

Find a physical activity you enjoy...and hint...it doesn't have to be in a gym.

It took me a long time to figure out what I like and what works for me. It also helps me a lot to have a fitness goal to work toward. Running just to run = bleh. Running because I’m training for a half-marathon puts me in a totally different mindset and now I look forward to my runs.

Also, quitting the gym and switching to home workouts helped a lot with my workout motivation. I just hate the gym but I enjoy doing my workouts at home.

I'm sure you can look up when the endorphins will kick in. :)

I think you should look for some exercise that you enjoy and assists you with what ever goals you are looking to make. Maybe lifting and running are not for you. Spin class? Yoga? Swimming?

Well I do enjoy yoga 😊and for the cost of a Y membership it is worth it just for that
When the weather is not so cold- I like walking/hiking on the trails near my house
    So I guess that’s something 😃
