How is body fat measured?

I heard some people talking about body fat and lean muscle measured. Just curious how its done right.

BIA scales are probably the most common, but also the most inaccurate. Body fat can also be measured with calipers and underwater weighing but those aren't the best either. DEXA scans are the most accurate way to measure body composition by use of an x-ray that not only shows bone, muscle and fat mass but also where its distributed.2
