    Fat burning is simple:
    1. Be in a calorie deficit. Regardless of way of eating or meal timing, you have to consistently be in a deficit to lose weight.
    2. You can't spot reduce.

What kind of foods do you eat. I'm female so could be different for me but fastest way for me to gain and keep fat is carbs , dairy, and general overeating. So then the remedy would be filling up on lean proteins , moderate amounts of healthy fat like aVaca do and raw seeds, moderate complex carbs like sweet potato and heaps of veg salad n fruit.
A sleep deficit can make people over fat so do you sleep enough?
I'm a bit chubby but know I'm also quite strong and fit and know if I had a little self control food wise I could look as healthy as I want to ! Doh self control.

All you need to lose weight is a calorie deficit. Check out the sexypants thread linked above.

Logging accurately and consistently would be a great place to start.

You don't need to eat healthy to lose weight, it's about calories.

If you are wanting some ideas on how to get more for you dollars, there are also some great threads for suggestions on eating better on a budget. Some great websites with recipes budgetbytes.com is mentioned often. I like using myfridgefood.com. You enter what foods you have in the house already and it will give you recipes based on that. Shop sales, I use the app Flipp, to see local flyers and comparison shop my staples. I get most of my meat when it's close to expiry, it's 30% off, and goes straight into the freezer when I get home. Buying vegetables in season, and frozen when they aren't. There really is a lot you can do, although it depends on how you define eating healthy.

what is kitten? Anyway, perhaps you should start with eating healthy. You can believe the post about 'it doesnt matter about eating healthy, just calories". and that may work our for you, but in the long term yiu will likely suffer. There is a lot of science about healthy eating (im referring to including heaps of veg salad and fruit) to get phytonutrients and fibre, to avoid cancer, depressive feelings, and on. Most people feel better when they eat healthier though its no guarantee.
So what is not eating very healthy? What do you think you could do differently that would benefit your weight/body composition?

Her point wasn't for him to not eat healthy food. Of course people need a nutrient rich diet. But, in terms of fat loss, it's not relevant. People can gain easily eating nothing but "clean" foods.
