I'm making mash today but my pot + potatoes is too heavy for my scales I have the weight of the pot and the weight of my potatoes and I know how much butter + milk I'll be using can I just add all the weights up and that's how many servings it makes or would that not be accurate? I tried just putting makes 1 then inputting 0.300 for 300g but that say over 1k calories :/

You could divide the batch into smaller batches and weigh it.

Would adding all the weights of the ingredients not work I'd rather not have to split it into multiple pots that then have to be washed

Yes, that works, and is usually what I do.

Are you going to be storing it in the pot? Usually when I have this problem I scoop the whole thing into the container I'll be storing it in (generally plastic, much lighter than a pot!) and weigh it that way (you'll have to know how much the storage container weighs beforehand, of course).

Yes at least till tomorrow then whatever is left after I've made shepherd's pie will be put in a container in the freezer doesn't matter now I've done it the way I said above and eaten it

Not if you weigh all your ingredients raw and then weigh your serving cooked. The total weight of everything raw ≠ the total weight of everything cooked.

I know the potatoes would take on water weight when cooking but that would just mean I'm over estimating if anything. The potatoes were the only thing that was getting cooked
