How to know your TDEE?

Options
Hi all,

I know when you join MFP it creates your TDEE based on the information you enter.
Do you feel this is accurate? Has anyone changed their calorie amount based on another source? I know there are calculators online but how do you know whats correct and what's not?
I need to make sure I am in deficit but I don't know whats the correct calorie amount for me as they vary from 1950 calories a day to 2500!
Also whats the healthy amount to be in deficit by?
TIA

MFP doesn't calculate your TDEE, it calculates your NEAT. (Which means you're supposed to eat back your exercise calories on MFP, which you wouldn't do with TDEE.)

You know it's accurate by logging accurately and examining your results.

You are in a deficit if you did the MFP set-up and are logging accurately.

Healthy amount for deficit depends on how much weight you have to lose.

We all run the same experiment. If you're going to use this site to log, then you need to know the way this site calculates.

From Help at the top of every page: How does MyFitnessPal calculate my initial goals?

Then just log everything and make adjustments based on your personal logging and results.
