This is my day 1 and I want to cry!!
I have a lot of weight to lose. I tried making a shopping list for my meal planning and it was overwhelming. I am making lifestyle changes based on the DASH diet. I live in OKC and I need to do this for my heath!!

Unless your health is in imminent danger it might be easier for you to make small changes over time. Try just 1 or 2 food swaps, or just change one of your meals initially. After a couple weeks, make a few more changes.

Food is probably your biggest lever, so work it accordingly.

I do agree, try some simple swaps.

You might also consider a food scale and start logging what you are eating using the scale.

A calorie deficit is what you need to lose weight.

How you get there is a personal choice.

Accurate measurements help achieve your goals.

If weighing food seems daunting, you could choose to just weigh calorie dense foods like starchy vegetables, dairy, meats, sauces, etc.

I don't weigh my spinach and other non-starchy vegetables. But I do weigh my pork chops, cheese, milk and other dairy, cereal, pasta, jelly, salad dressings, potatoes and other similarly calorie dense foods.

You'll get all sorts of advice. Take what you find is working for you and run with it.

It's a marathon, not a sprint, plan accordingly.

Aw sweetie I know it can seem like an overwheming challenge but the trick is to keep it simple.

Just put your stats in MFP for a reasonable weight loss 1-2 lbs
Weigh and measure all your food
    Log it honestly and consistently
    Be patient
    Trust the process
    You will lose weight

Don't try to do too much at once. Log all your food for a week without changing anything. Then look at what you are eating and decide where to make small changes.

You don't have to change everything at once. Slow and steady wins this race. Eat the foods you enjoy just keep them within your calorie goal.

This is a great place with loads of advice from some really knowledgeable people. Read the forums especially the stickies at the top of the pages.

Check out he success forum for some inspiration. But most importantly never give up, just keep trying you will get there.
