Not sure what sort of response you are expecting here...are you expecting strangers on the internet to be able to accurately diagnose your medical condition on the basis of one sentence?

If you are experiencing a medical difficulty then go seek medical help....not the opinions of strangers on the internet who would have absolutely no way of knowing.

There could be many reasons for this (apart from smoking) and all of them require a doctor to diagnose you properly.

Could be asthma or any number of other conditions. Could be as simple as an allergy.
My wife has bronchiactasis. This lung condition has her producing phlegm during flare ups. It could also mean removing a section of her lung at some point.
I hope, in your case, it turns out to be minor and temporary.
