Coconut butter?

As lotion for hands and body (not face!). That's about it. Wouldn't recommend eating it or any other refined oils for that matter because they are just 120 empty calories of fat per tbsp.0

Yes. I use it a lot in baked goods. Chocolate covered Katie (the blog) calls for it a lot, so I always have some. I just throw unsweetened shredded coconut in a blender until it's completely smooth, almost liquid. Then pour into a mason jar and let it harden. Yummy!0

^You are thinking of coconut oil. Coconut butter is a lot thicker. If you melt it and put it on something cold like a smoothie, it has a magic shell effect. I have also used it in oatmeal. It is really tasty.0 -
Always used it to rub on burns.. never thought to eat it.0

Awesome instructions Aquabunny---I will have to give this a try -I have seen it listed several places but had no idea it was something I could whip up myself!0

That being said it is still pure fat. There is no logical reason to consume it unless you just want to throw away calories. It's devoid of any micronutrients and is 100% fat (I checked just to make sure it wasn't different than the oil).0 -

I have bought coconut oil in solid form for cooking.
I have cocoa butter in my body lotion - but it's not coconut butter. Smells divine.
And then I have REAL coconut oil pressed from the Islands (this is where I come from so easy to get) for hair and skin moisturiser. This oil is different from the cooking one, and doesn't really smell that coconutty. Plus we actually use every single part of the coconut plant, so there are more applications if you want them.0 -

^ this!
Also, baking. The birthday cake I'm making my husband this weekend calls for it.0 -
I keep a jar of it in the pantry for cooking, and a jar on my dresser for moisturising my skin. I stir a teaspoon of it into my porridge (oats) every morning. I sometimes roast or fry other foods in it and also use it in baking.0

"Long-chain fatty acids are the bad types of saturated fat. When we consume long-chain fatty acids, our bodies store this as fat -- contributing to weight gain, heart disease and high cholesterol. Coconuts DO NOT contain this type of fat, but rather contain medium-chain fatty acids. According to Udo, our bodies do not store medium-chain fatty acid as fat, but rather use it for energy. Instead of promoting weight gain, it actually promotes weight loss and helps to lower cholesterol levels."
Fat is not the devil my friend.
IN FACT, according to EatingWell.com, eating coconut oil/butter speeds up the metabolism by 5% while digesting. If you ate a 500 calories meal, 10% is typically used for digestion. If some of those calories came from coconut oil, allegedly your body would burn 75 calories instead of 50 while digesting.
Obviously its high calorie but who cares if it fits into your daily goal? Moderation is key but it's not "bad" for you. Look it up!
Oh, and to the OP:

p.p.s. I eat coconut butter all the time and I've managed to lose 60 pounds. Yea...SOOOO BAD FOR YOU!!! lol0
