5.8 female, calorie loss help

I am new to MFP and I have 8wks till my holiday. I do 10,000 steps a day, weigh 78kg and would like to lose a stone, when I input details it comes up 1200 a day although I worry this may be too little?

Yes. Try 1700 and see how it goes, then adjust accordingly. You can manually set your calorie goal in the settings. Or, change your goal to lose 1 pound a week and see what it gives you.1

A stone in 8 weeks is almost 2 lb a week. To lose 2 lb per week you would have to undereat by 1000 calories every day. That’s only possible for very obese people, who have a high maintenance and a lot of fat to burn; it isn’t possible for you.
MFP has set you at the minimum calories it considers safe. I would recommend you give up the idea of losing a stone for your holiday, and settle for half; you’ll be much healthier and happier.10
