Trust me people bring in junk food because misery loves company. I used to bring in donuts "for everyone" because I didn't want to be the only person eating them.
Exactly, "misery likes company".
Do some people seem to be getting fatter as they're trying to fit in? Some but not all. The few that don't eat whatever's being offered to them actually stay fit and are a real boon to the company in the long-run. We shouldn't have to make ourselves miserable to fit in. I stick with my fitness goals and I could care less what anyone else thinks about what I eat or do not eat. And not to mention there's nothing the least bit sanitary about the food truck style serving habits that happens in the office. It's also hard to wash your hands thoroughly before and after eating at the office, so for me personally I don't eat anything at the office.2
