Binge eating disorder

Looking to see if others have dealt with this and if so what helped you. I have started journaling, food tracking and still work out. I had maintained a weight of around 180-185 when I started power lifting. I put on weight and associated it with the lifting. When I developed an umbilical hernia I stopped power lifting and the weight kept stacking. I spoke to my doc over a year ago about feelings that I couldn't stop myself from eating. I tried weight loss pills that did work (Contrave) but since they are not covered by insurance, I couldn't stay on them. Needless to say, I gained more weight. Then I noticed a pattern of eating fast and a lot...I was discouraged as I had gotten up to 250 lbs by the end of 2018. I started low carb and was able to lose 16 lbs, but the methods don't stick. I'm hoping my doc can give me some guidance but looking for as many possible ideas to work on getting back to at least 195. Thanks!

I have struggled with binge eating in the past. I had a period of about six months where I was diagnosed. Regular therapy helped. I went for reasons other than my eating, so I did not go to a specialist, but my anxiety and inability to deal with stressors in life is basically what caused the disorder, as I was using food to cope with serious issues that I hadn't even consciously acknowledged yet. Therapy helped me recognize them and find ways to cope healthily.1

I strongly suffer from binge eating- I feel out of control and would love to connect with others who”get it” and support each other.1
