How can I burn calories while still wearing a cast/recovering from ripped Tendons

Over the last year I have put on a lot of weight after hurting my foot and becoming a couch potato....not to mention comfort eating and feeling a little sorry for myself.......... I started on my mission by filling my Fridge with Healthy stuff and using MFP again ( I lost 20kgs a few years ago and keep the weight off until the accident)
So any tips as to what I should be doing on the long road to recovery and being able to use both feet (still have 3 weeks in the cast and Therapy for months)........... would be really welcome

Upper body excercises..
Few YouTube's exercises with leg cast..
But.. check with your doctor beforehand which are ok..1 -
Check with your doctor or physical therapist. When I’ve had lower body injuries, my physical therapist has helped modify other exercises so they were safe to do (safe to do the exercise itself and also didn’t require me toting a bunch of weights around the gym while I was on crutches) and cleared me for various cardio options that wouldn’t aggravate whatever injury I had at the time.2
