18 year old needs some friends/music recommendations?

I am 18 years old from Melbourne, Victoria. I have always been terrible at sports, clumsy and hardly athletic, although I have never been ‘fat’ so to speak. However I am dreadfully unfit. I thought in preparation for the next stage of my life, as well as having a healthy body to get through exams I would try to get toned up. Unfortunately I have found that I work best when I am supported by friends and have buddies to go on the journey with me. If anyone wants to be my friend, discuss workouts and motivate each other it would be much appreciated. Preferably someone my age, possible going through a similar stage in life, (exams or uni etc) but I am a friendly person and open to anyone!!!

I want to lose weight for the reasons previously stated, however I would also like a rocking thin and lean body so I can look like a cool alternative model type like GRIMES (that sounds so vain of me but it’s best to be honest with myself especially about motivation!).

Also what music do people listen to when working out? I find a lot of nordic dance music is great, Todd Terj-Inspector Norse has been all I have been listening to lately, especially when running!

Hello there! I'm not quite in your age-group, but I feel your pain. Up until college, I was never "fat," but never quite in shape as I was clumsy and lazy. In college, however, I gained like 50lbs. I was able to take it off and then some, but then got lazy again and put 24lbs back on. Working on that now...

Some recommendations for music are Pink (she ALWAYS keeps me motivated,) Muse, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Eminem, Rhianna, FloBots, and up-tempo stuff like that. Good luck!

My opinion on listening to something while working out, exercising is: try to get along without. Appalling thought to many I know; however, i put a premium on being aware of one's surroundings.

I will listen to something during specific circumstances:
    1) On a closed course or during an event
    2) when I'm otherwise completely alone and I'm doing a tempo
    3) treadmill (maybe)

Never on the bike, and never in resistance training.

    From a running perspective:
Try to order your playlist such that slower tracks are first (90 to 120 bpm) and faster tracks follow (120 to 165 bpm). And, of course finish with slow tracks (less than 100 bpm).

if I were to recommend one group to listen to (out of all of them), it would be Falling Up: specifically the albums Captiva and Exit Lights. Check out this sample:

Hi! I'm a 19 year old law student who lives in the UK. Also terribly unfit (blaming it on sitting cross legged on the floor with the books for hours on end haha!) but looking to change that. Adding you :)

Oh, and as for the music, Mumford and Sons! The up tempo folk beat that runs through every song is a real motivator.
