Hi I am a 37 year old female, my name is Sheila.I have been here 5 days now, but just introducing myself today, better late than never:laugh: I am married and have 4 children. I have been overweight since I was about 12yrs old. When I first met my husband, 16yrs ago, I weighed about 220 and after dieting and exercise I got down to about 190. I always made myself believe I was so much bigger than I was, don't get me wrong I know that 190 still overweight but when I look back at photos of myself then and compare them today, I think man what were you thinking. Over the years I slowly gained weight, especially after the birth of each one of my children. When I was pregnant I would loose about 20-25 pounds, because I would really eat healthier for my unborn child. Then after my child was born I would gain it all back plus some, until I reached a whopping 305 pounds. I could have died when I stepped on that scale. I am ashamed to say it but I was obsessed with food. I would actually get angry when I felt like I was being deprived of a food I wanted,:embarassed: and I was an emotional eater that never practiced portion control, I would eat when I was happy, I would eat when I was mad, and I would eat when I was bored. One day that all changed, it is like a light went on or in this instance off, I no longer obsess about what or when I eat, lately I really have no desire to eat, so if I miss a meal it is no big deal and it does not bother me. I no longer eat my emotions, when I get angry, upset, or overly stressed with home or work, I hit the treadmill and walk away my problems. I lost 40 pounds before joining here:flowerforyou: , but i hit a brick wall. A friend suggested that I join myfitnesspal because it was really helping her reach her goals. So I thought, "it sure cannot hurt" When I first signed up as a member I was at 265 lbs, I set my goal at 170 or 190 cannot quite remember at this time, that is what 4 children a husband and building a new home will do to ya, LOL. I plan on losing more weight once I reach this goal, I just try to set little goals, so I am not setting myself up for failure. I am looking forward to success.
