afterburn and energy expenditure

just listening to an interesting phone interview. I'm sure the guy who conducted it won't mind if i draw attention to it.
i find it important to know more about the after effect of any form of exercise no matter if one trains to bulk up, lose weight or maintain and is trying to work out the calorie need for it.
Activity levels are very vague when added to BMR values.
Now having set my values to maintenance and highly active, I found with the amount of road cycling I'm doing i'd have to way overshoot my calorie goal to not continue losing weight. So while trying to figure out what my real caloric needs are i came across this interview. Have a listen
