So I’ll be out of the country for 8 days. We don’t have a microwave or fridge at our hotel. Does anyone have advice on maintaining my weight loss and not gaining everything back?

If you are in maintenance, you should have a good idea what portions look like?3

Depending on where you are going, you are likely to find restaurant portions to be smaller than typical American restaurants serve, and you are likely to be doing a LOT of walking. Both of these will help. Enjoy good food well prepared, don't go crazy with extremely high-calorie items (pastries, I'm thinking of you) or alcohol, and expect that the day after you return home, the scale will show 5-10 pounds more than when you left. But most of this will be related to fluid retention from flying and your digestive system being a bit off from what you are used to. Your actual fat gain is likely to be a couple of pounds at most, if that. Unless you are eating thousands of calories over your maintenance every single day you're traveling, you're unlikely to gain significant fat. Just get back on your routine. Enjoy your trip!5

Where are you going? If I were going to another country for 8 days I’d eat the local food (freshly prepared and not microwaved). But that’s just me. I don’t think you’ll undo everything in 8 days. Just make sure that you remember to resume your new (weight loss or maintenance) habits when you return. If you gain a pound, you can lose it again.1

I just got back from an all inclusive type vacation, the first couple days I really was trying my best to stick strictly to my normal eating habits, as time went on I would say I ate right about 70% of the time, but avoided all sweets(real weak spot for me). End result, I had a blast, gained back 5lbs and got back to business when I returned. The weight gain disappeared and within a week I was back to the weight I was before I left. I guess my point is, it’s a vacation go away, have fun, eat as best you can without over analyzing and taking away from your vacation, and when you get back hit the ground where you left off. It’s one week for a lifetime journey, it will not be any type of long term set back.0

Bring snacks...protein bars, almonds, get fresh fruit there if possible . You can buy little packs of almond butter and peanut butter too...rice cakes...1

I don't even bother. I'm on holidays I want to eat the foods. Plus, only 8 days, meh. A bump in the road then just lose it again.2
