Using a recipe as an ingredient in another recipe

Maybe I’m missing something, but I’m trying to use a recipe I created as an ingredient for a new recipe. I made my own avocado mayo and want to use that in a few other recipes. It only seems to let me search the database for ingredients.

The only way I can see that working is if you make a database entry for the avocado mayo via "my foods" section on the browser based site (I have no idea if this would work on the app and if it would it would be more tedious).

Step 1: create the recipe in the recipe builder to get the nutrition info
Step 2: go to "my foods" and enter in the nutrition info gathered in step 1

I haven't done this myself, but I quickly created a test recipe using items that I had previously added to the "my foods" section and it seemed to work. Your best bet would be to weigh the mayo and have the servings be in grams. So if you have 100g of mayo, put 100 servings in the servings field on the recipe builder.
  • The solution is not very helpful. What about creating my own recipes from cooking? This app is only based on branded purchase food. Not very healthy contribution as it is fostering fat industrial ready to eat made plates.

You can create recipes on both the phone app and the browser based site. I do it at least twice a week. Yes it's a pain if you want to create a recipe that also includes a very small portion of a recipe you made earlier, but even that is doable.

I’ll give it a try. I have used this mayo in numerous other recipes and it’s more of a pia to figure out the nutritional values once it’s in a multi serving recipe. It will definite be worth the time of adding again on the browser if I can always go to it.
    Thanks
