I was wondering if any members would know how long these foods will keep cooked in the fridge.

Rice
Cooked broccoli
Cooked cauliflower
Cooked onions, peppers, mushroom mix
Beans
Brussel sprouts

Thanks

I give most home-cooked items a week in the fridge and toss them early if they seem off earlier than that. The rice may dry out sooner, but it'll still be edible; add some liquid before reheating.

I pretty much have a 72 hour rule for most everything. Things like rice or beans or quinoa that I batch cook on Sunday I'm usually good with until Friday...it's usually gone anyway, but if it's not, I toss it.

    Exactly this.

I don’t precook veggies that cook up easily. They don’t seem to keep as well as meats and starches do.

The beans and rice are the only thing on that list I would bother to precook, but in general I have a five day rule.

I eat all leftovers within three days typically. Four is the absolute limit.

Having worked in a few restaurants and cafeterias...let me just say that the food you eat is often older than you think it is, and properly stored the difference isn't nearly as noticeable as you'd expect.

Not sure about the veg, but cooked rice and beans are absolute heaven for food bugs. The length of time they stay safe to eat is highly dependent on how quickly you got them into fridge after you cooked them, so as a rule of thumb I'd try to eat them within a day or two, three max, or freeze them instead. It is very important to reheat them to piping hot too, which will kill most bugs and denature nasty proteins.

Yes you can more than likely get away with more than this and people do.

Proper food handling is the key and exactly why food hygeine standards are so rigorously enforced.... and why so many people get poisoned by restaurant food. And why I've had so many restaurant meals with the tang of stale fridge :-(
