I NEED MOTIVATION

I need motivation! I’m struggling to stay motivated it’s so easy to get off track. Any tips? Pointers? Work out buddies?

    You've got motivation (get healthy or age horribly), it's that Will Power guy letting you down. Scientific experiments have actually confirm that we have a finite amount of that; no surprise there!

    So my routine is to make sure flaky Mr Power comes into it as little as possible. I don't go shopping hungry. I don't keep diet breaking food in the house. I eat when I'm naturally hungry. I pre-book my Pilates classes knowing that they are oversubscribed, so when I'm tempted to duck out at the last minute, I know somebody else would be unfairly denied. I only do exercise I like. I cycle or walk rather than using the car so I don't have to go to the gym and use pointless machines which I hate. I also find that setting a loud alarm to tell me I have to do something will jolt me off the couch and out of the door before I've really thought about it (which let's face it, is the hardest part of any exercise routine). I get myself to go swimming by saying, well, if I don't feel like it when I get there, I'll just have a sauna. But magically, when I do get there, I always get in the pool. Just for a few lengths... but then, hell, this is quite good, I think I'll keep going...

    So basically, you probably know where your weaknesses lie - you just have to find ways to subvert your natural inclinations.
