    Most of the entries in the food database are user entered. There are quite a few entries that only contain the calories but not the macro or micro nutrient information. You might just be using entries that don't contain all of the macro info leading to the situation you show.

    Calorie counting is a tool that is certainly not 100% percent exact, but it's also certainly legitimate and can be used by as more than a general estimate. Yes it is true without laboratory testing, we don't know exactly to the calorie how many calories are in our food, just like we don't know exactly calories we burn. But there are estimates of both that are petty good and they can allow us to make a lot of informed decisions.
