Weight loss

Hi guys. 2 weeks ago I started my diet again. 5'2" 128 lbs and goal is 120. About halfway through week 1 my weight skyrocketed to 131 in like 4 days. I ate out to eat but no way that much considering I was 126 when it went up. This is water weight right? I haven't started working out really yet. Also, I overrate yesterday and today but logged them. Can someone explain if I'll still lose weight based off my chart?

Most likely water weight, food also has volume in your body.1

Eating out normally means a high salt content. This results in water retention which then results in the scales moving upwards. In a few days it will settle back down again. Just remember that it takes about 3500 calories above your daily maintenance calories to gain a pound of fat.3

What they said above, adding explicitly: With the totals above, you'll still lose fat this week, but maybe not enough to be visible on the scale because water weight is up, maybe masking fat loss.
Be patient. Day to couple-week scale weight changes are mostly about water weight and digestive contents fluctuations. Multi-week to months changes (trends) are where fat loss shows up.
Stick with it. Best wishes!3
