Some of my friends have one. I'm wondering if it's worth the expense.

Yes, I LOVE mine and it was only 35 bucks (reg 90). You can always find great deals to get one for a reasonable price. I use it for everything like eggs, desserts, meat, wraps, veggies, frozen burritos. I love the unique flavor it gives meat. it is unlike any oven baked chicken/turkey breast flavor.

I used mine to death. However if you have a convection oven there are ways (supposedly though I haven’t tried yet) to get the same results.

Practically same..just bigger than countertop fryer.. 😉

I like mine. For the price I think it was definitely worth it. I don't have a large one so I store it in the cupboard when I'm not using it.

I borrowed a spare one off a friend. Mixed roast veggies for my Quinoa salad, in like 10 minutes. Takes about 1 hour in the oven. Excellent, just excellent

This one is only 30 bucks. ALthough I think it may be too small. I have a 4 quart one and it is perfect, but if you just want a small one, it is a good price.

No. It will not give you the taste nor the texture of deep fried food. Nothing like that at all. You cannot trick science. Just look at what people are making in it. Nothing you cannot make in an oven with same results, it might just take 10 minutes longer.

I have a convection oven and my food comes out way differently in the air fryer vs convection oven.

I absolutely adore my air fryer! We made turkey burgers in it the other night and they were fantastic!

How so? I have tried the air fryer, because I always want to know what I am talking about. Besides that it took a bit longer for things to cook in my Breville, I saw zero difference.

I've never tried the Breville, but my oven is a convection oven. I've compared fries, plain chicken and turkey breast, baked goods, eggs, and mozzarella sticks. The convection oven took longer, and I had to keep turning the food to get it crispy on all sides. Otherwise, they came out only crispy on the top. The air fryer produced a perfectly crisp on all sides product with no extra time having to flip things or worry about all sides.

The chicken and turkey did not come out with the same crispiness/crunch on the outside with the oven, and the inside was really dry. They just tasted like a regular chicken breast in an oven. With the air fryer they formed a really nice crisp outer edge around each breast with a unique taste and maintained a juicy center.

The fries came out the same if I flipped them a few times and cooked for double the time, but I prefer to just pop in and be done. Taste wise, the fries were no different though.

I tried cakes in both as well and the air fryer produced the best outside crunch, while still moist on the inside.

Mozzarella sticks were far better in the air fryer. They came out super crunchy and tasted like they really were fried. In order to get the same crunch on the outside in the oven, I had to cook them extra long, flip them, and they still weren't as good.

If I was cooking for a whole family or large quantities I would probably like convection oven better. But for the price, small size, cooking time, and no hassle clean up, the air fryer was a lot better than using an oven for me. Maybe the breville is different though, I don't know much about the small convection ovens, maybe that is why my comparisons weren't as good.

Love it, and use it all the time.
It is certainly quicker than using the oven, and because I don't have to wait for it to hear up cheaper to run as well.

I do fries probably 4 times a week. To get the same taste out of the oven (mine is a convection as well), takes about 4 times the oil, longer and more watching (as you say, they need to be turned).

Yes, they are not deep fried flavour, but they are still good, way easier, less oil and cheaper to run than the full oven.

Go get it. I love mine. Yes it won't taste like fried food, yes a conventional oven can do the same but convenience and time is what makes it worth having.

I just got one and love it so far. I got it to make healthy foods more kid-approved, especially veggies. We have done salmon filets, roasted chili chickpeas, butternut squash, sweet potato fries, kale chips, and brussels sprouts. Much faster than the oven and better texture.
