Alchohol poisoning

On Sunday night I went out with friends and had quite a bit to drink. (I don’t ever really do this) Due to being fit, and the short period of time which it was consumed - within an hour and a half I was admitted into hospital with alcohol poisoning and stayed overnight.

I have rested for two days but am not sure when would be a good time to get back into my fitness routine. Yesterday when I got home, everything was still really blurry and if I lay still, objects still appeared to be moving (this was after an injection they gave me to sober up). Aside from a very sore and swollen wrist where the drip went in, I am itching to get back into the swing of things. Tomorrow I have Strong by Zumba, not sure if it would be a good idea to go or not.

Does anyone have any advice or similar experiences?

Not a doctor and I have never had alcohol poisoning -- but if your doc has cleared you for going back to your normal activity, I would think it's fine.

I would call your GP and ask.

    First, check with your GP.

Second, how about going out for a brisk walk and see how you hold up. If you get dizzy after a mile or 2, wait another day and test again.

It's not like it's an all or nothing proposition. If you feel healthy before the class, then go. If you start to feel less than healthy during the class, stop and go home.

Question: What does being fit have to do with how quickly you got so drunk you had to be hospitalized? More likely that since, as you stated, you don't ever really do this, your tolerance to alcohol is low and you just drank way too much way too quickly. That can happen to 'unfit' people, too.

I agree with going for a brisk walk and seeing how you feel. Also, a phone call to your doctor might be in order.
