Please help. Keto or low fat?

Hello everyone! Im determined to lose weight. Im ~30% body fat and I know I let myself down with my dieting. I’m torn between a low fat-high protein diet and keto. I crave carbs daily. I love coca cola, bread and chips but i usually limit myself to two slices of toast for breakfast, a protein shake for lunch and a big meaty meal for dinner. Thing is, It seems so hard to come up with meal plans.
I tried keto before but im not sure how effective it is. I found it very boring and depressing . It was difficult to come up with meal plans, particuarly, breakfast and lunch. I just dont know anymore.
I exercise 3x a week and do hiit training. I know that if I were to do a keto I’d find my workouts harder since I work at such a high heartrate and when the heart is beating rapidly it uses carbs as a main fuel resource.
I just have no idea. Anything.. even websites that can help me lost weight. Ive been overweight since 2012 because of depression and I really want to get it off!

If you want to lose fat, you just need to make sure you’re in a calorie deficit. You don’t need to follow any specific diet. Consistently eat the number of calories MFP gives you, using a food scale to measure your food. You will lose weight.9

Why do you feel you need to do either of them? Neither is needed for successful weight loss. If you have tried Keto before, and found it "boring and depressing", then I wouldn't give it another go. All you need to do to lose weight is to eat less calories than your body burns. MFP can help you do that. Enter in your stats, choose a reasonable weight loss goal (it is not recommended to choose 2 pounds a week unless you have a lot of weight to lose), and it will give you a target of your "net" calories. Focus on eating that and then if you burn calories from exercise, eat back most of those as well.
As long as you do that, you can eat whatever foods you like. There's no need to limit yourself to low carb or low fat or any other type of restriction. Just moderate your intake to control calories, and with time you will be able to achieve successful weight loss.5 -
You could just eat the foods you already eat but in lesser amounts. Many of us here have a lot of success eating our regular foods while staying in a calorie deficit.
As said above, a specific diet isn't required.3 -
OP, why not just eat whatever foods you like, just in the correct calorie amounts?
Weight loss comes down to being at the correct calorie deficit for your weight loss goals. You can eat however you want to make up your calorie allowance though.1 -
There is a huge middle ground between the two. Why not focus on calories and whole foods, maybe even protein and call it a day. That is what i did. I even reserved 10% of my calories for treats when i needed it. Lost 50 lbs and kept it off for over 6 years.6
