Possibility of removing "calories remaining" sign?

I'm finding that info to be very tempting (eg, I have 200 kcal left, so I'll think "I'll eat the 200 and a bit more, it'll be ok")
--- or at least, can I change it without getting mfp premium?

Hmm... I am not sure if you can do anything about that.
However, if you are just wanting to avoid the temptation of overeating, just click on the "Complete this entry" button at the bottom of the page.
When I am contemplating what I could fill those extra calories, I click on that and am encouraged by the "If you ate like this every day, you would weigh ___ in 5 weeks"
If that doesn't do it for you, try adding in that extra item beforehand and then click the button again and check out the difference in numbers.
If you are still really wanting to eat, you probably actually need to eat something.
Don't forget that getting deep sleep and drinking plenty of water (tea for me in the evenings) make a huge difference also in cravings.
Good luck!5 -
you are supposed to eat them. all of them. every day.
or is the concern about the exercise calories added back in? (which again you are supposed to eat those but depending how you added them in there is sometimes discussion about over estimation)12 -
Or just eat the calories??
Why are you eating under your calorie goal?9 -
You are supposed to eat those calories. If you are seeing this often enough for it to be bothering you, you might be undereating.10

Ahh.... I didn't realize...
Ok, don't take my advice, mysticmagi
Most of the time I am already full when I click that "Complete Entry" button and am just thinking about going for seconds in my chocolate drawer and/or freezer.... or thirds.
Listen to the other members- they have more experience in this than me.1 -
I get to the end of the day and see 'You have 200 kcal left' my first thought is
"Woohoo! I'm gonna have TWO fun size snickers tonight!!"8 -
Your calorie goal is set for you to eat at that level and lose your desired amount of weight. Undereating it consistently is not recommended, as it's important to lose weight healthily and sustainably. That 200 calories remaining sign is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.4

I too come up short of reaching my calorie intake. (I’ve only been logging a week). Ty for the discussions..........I will start eating my recommended allowance.0

I find it helpful to brush my teeth early before bed so that then I don’t fancy that extra last snack of chocolate or bowl of cereal.1

My goal is 1200, I adjusted to 1050, prevents me from overeating- but I’m sedentary and have been working with wellness coach. I also aim for whole fats and slightly lower carb. My vitamins are about 100 cals. I do not get many cals from beverages so bulk of cals are very deliberate. No room for a binge. I’ve been losing 5 lbs a month since Nov.7

Regularly eating under the minimum calories suggested for women doesn’t seem like a very healthy approach. Did your “wellness” coach suggest this? How much weight do you have to lose? How tall are you?6 -
Your calorie goal is a goal to hit, not a limit to stay under. You risk undereating otherwise, which is bad for both your health and your weight loss. I handle extra calories in one of two ways:
1. If I want something that would fit into the remaining calories, I eat it.
2. If I feel eating would only be for the sake of calories and not because I really want something, I save the calories for another day. The promise of a larger portion of fries next weekend feels more attractive than simply filling a quota today.
As you can see, in both cases I'm eating all of my calories, I'm just picky where I use them.9 -
Stick a plaster on your screen just on the right spot and you will not see it any longer.2

I’m under doctors care and wellness coach, my weight loss is not aggressive, slightly over a lb a week. My metabolism is very slow, I work a desk job and can’t do things like stairs due to a spine issue. 1000 is the minimum cal floor, and I’ve never gone under it. I’m trained in culinary skill, so weights and measuring is fairly easy. Sadly 1400-1500 is my maintenance, which explains why I’ve gained over the last 10 years. I’m just shy 5’6. I do my labs/blood work regularly.2 -
Actually, unless you're really short (like under 5'), 1200 is the minimum floor.4
