Can someone please explain to what exactly is a Macro. I see it used through out the forum and I am not sure what it is?

Macronutrients refer to carbohydrates, protein and fat. Micronutrients refer to vitamins, minerals, flavonoids, etc.

You can do a Google search for "macronutrients", but basically the main ones are carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Macro means large, and these are nutrients that our bodies need in larger quantities to sustain life. Carbs and protein each provide 4 calories per gram, and fat provides 9 calories per gram. Calories, or more accurately, kilocalories, are what provide energy to our bodies in order for them to function.

Looks like you've got your answer, but I wanted to point out that there's also an Acronyms and Terms dictionary in the Must Reads post at the top of the Getting Started board: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1069278/acronyms-and-terms-for-new-mfp-members-v-6/p1

If you haven't checked out those stickied "must reads" posts at the top of each board yet, there's some great info there.
