Ok I struggle with this. Every day my weight is up 3 pounds because of sodium. If I take a water pill the 3 pounds comes off. I know I can’t take these all the time. I just don’t see my actual weight loss unless I do. I need to see it because it keeps me very motivated and strong. How much water do I have to drink to pull the water off naturally?I can’t help it we have hi sodium mean. My mother in law cooks for us and just everyday simple meals carry a lot of sodium. What do I do? I usually drink two Starbucks Trenti cups of water one large coffee and green tea at home.

If you're weighing daily, you are going to see the scale fluctuate up and down. It can be a bummer, but don't let it get to you! Today, I was up 2.2 pounds from yesterday, but am down 2.1 pounds for the week(TOM 'woosh'). If I get discouraged, I just look to see where I was the week before, and that's where I can see that everything is working.
I use the libra app, and it gives me a better look at my progress!1 -

Personally I'd stop taking the pills and let your body just adjust to your diet, water weight fluctuations are totally normal and are your bodies healthy response to regulate itself, you are trying to lose fat not water, so learn to be more patient, use other methods alongside the scale to evaluate your progress - measurements, progress pictures, fit of clothes.

If you are intaking a lot of salt, your body needs to hold on to that water to keep your electrolytes in check. I would stop taking the pills, your weight is your weight. Water weight is part of it. Don't mess with electrolytes, it can be dangerous.
Eat more vegetables and fruit, and don't worry about it. Your weight includes water, I doubt you're eating that much more salt that what all of us are eating.8 -
Not sure why you feel the need for the water pill...
usually home cooked meals aren't too bad for sodium, she must add a LOT of salt!
Our bodies fluctuate anyway, look at the general average trend rather than the daily number.7 -

ask if she may simply not cook with salt, then everyone can add the amount they like and you can add a minimal amount5 -

You are probably continuing to see big water weight swings BECAUSE you keep forcing your body to release water before it's ready with the water pill. Let your body function the way it's supposed to. Generally, manipulating your water weight gains and losses is a bad idea.
Depending on the scale for motivation is a tough road to travel. You don't have control over the scale, your weight will fluctuate all the time, up and down, having nothing to do with fat or your behavior. Maybe focusing on setting some non-scale goals, and working to look more at the big long-term picture rather than day to day, would be helpful.15 -

I agree with all the above.

Your weight it your weight--that includes, your organs, your bones, the meal you just ate and....water.

Stop using that water pill and let your body deal with its natural fluctuations. We all get them.5
-
Taking the pills is just making it all worse. Rebound water weight is awful. You need to stop those and let your body do its normal functions.5
-
If you are going to weigh daily, you need to accept that you will see fluctuations. Your body isn't *meant* to weigh the same thing each day. There are times when you retain water and your body is doing it for a reason. Stop trying to micromanage it and let your body retain water sometimes.6
-
Why don’t you just accept that those three pounds are a part of your total weight. Why obsess over them? Taking a pill because it makes you feel good to see those 3 disappear sounds extremely unhealthy.5
-
The problem is regarding normal weight fluctuations as a problem.9

Don't take water pills! Those usually have very serious side effects. They aren't good for your kidneys, and depending on the type they make you pee out lots of useful electrolytes. What if you pee out calcium? Your body regulates the loss by mobilizing calcium from your bones into the blood. Then you pee it out again, etc. Basically, you're creating your own home-made osteoporosis. Magnesium is the same. You need potassium for your heart to function properly, etc. If things go wrong in a different way the sudden drop in water might also reduce fluid, and thus pressure in your eyes. You know that your eyes need to be filled with fluid to function properly, right? This bit of water weight fluctuation is not worth risking your eye sight, nor any other part of your body. Water pills should only be taken under strict GP supervision, and not as a way to play the scale!2
