Hi I'm JP ! I've been doing keto about 8 months now with cheating going on. I guess I'm here to be more on my calorie intake and other macro's . I've lost some but not what I want. I love hiking and being outdoors. I need motivation bad ! Any friends to help along the way ??? thanks

    Hi JP. I am also doing keto macros, though just starting out.

    I have used MFP in the past and concentrated on high protein, low carb with success over the long haul, but after researching keto eating I have decided that at least for the next several months this is where I should be.

    It really didn't surprise me to track my food and discover how I need to pay attention to percentage macros. I have heard so many people talk about eating lots of bacon and egg breakfasts etc. with success on their part but I am fully aware that my system simply does not tolerate very high fat content foods. Also that's a good way to run out of calories for the day pretty early on, and I like the flexibility of variety.

    I have been doing this about ten days, and I have found what I think is just about the right macro mix for me without sending myself into GI distress. I am targeting around 60% calories from fat, 30% protein cals and 10% carb cals, so let's see how far that gets me.

    I will happy to encourage you along the way to stay focused. I think what is going to keep me on track is not wanting to go back to that week and a half of daily headaches.

    Also my body is still adjusting, so my tolerance for cardio isn't where it needs to be yet and I am anxious to get that leveled out.

    My first goal is to get my body fat below the "obese" label. I am about 2 lbs. away from "just being fat." Ha ha.
    I should be able to reach that in the next several days-by Wednesday if I hit a temporary plateau.
