Hi All
It took me a while to work out what the NSV stands for Whoever came up with this they were sooooo right - like today on my s**t weigh in day - I am still encouraged by NSVs !
As it's been 160 days for me = 6 months >>>>> 30 kg (66 lbs) lost - I have a few:
> Able to cross legs when sitting down e.g. on a bus (and stay like that for 20 min!)
> My engagement ring had to be moved to the other hand and thicker finger !
> Able to catch breath after rushing to the bus
> Able to share a sit on bus with nother person without feeling their elbow on my side!
> Able to wear jeans
> Strangers men smile to me (I still turn my head to see who's that was aimed for though haha)
Actually that's not all - I am sure every day brings another little NSVs
Hopefully some beginners will be encouraged by this! It is so worth it! Time flies - I'd have never believed 6 months ago that i will be able to refuse the chocolate that a work colleague brought from her holiday trip (see - another little NSV!)
Be good I love my MFP friends

NSVs? I've been doing this since November and like you am around 30kg down.
> Crossing legs... definitely a little freaky but yes, I can do it and I still feel strange each time I do
> I can run!! I now have 3 x 10km medals
> Finding bones... collar bones, hip bones (where were they hiding?)
> Being able to shop in normal clothes shops - I'm still not used to it!
> Running up escalators
> being able to do more exercise, walk further, run further than most of my "skinny" friends
> Feeling healthier
> Having to change my watch band... twice!
Like anyone I have good days and bad days. I tried to find ways to shortcut being healthy and the one thing I have learned is that you have to take responsibility for yourself and your own health.
I have learned a lot about nutrition and the benefits of exercise. I never realised how much I didn't know and how much I didn't even care about it. I was pre-diabetic. Now I have a clean bill of health.
NSVs? They happen constantly but I'm still not happy with myself. I may never be happy with myself because my ignorance caused a lot of damage to my health and my body. One day maybe I will learn to live with myself, until then I aim to improve0 -
One of my favorite NSV's happened this past weekend. My parents were meeting us to take the kids back-to-school shopping. My mom didn't recognize me from a distance, she had to do a double-take and identify me because I was with the kids! After that she said "I've never seen your butt so small!" FTW! :-D
I've been at this since Oct of last year and a few other NSV's I've had since then are:
~ able to run and have improved my pace by 5 mins/mile
~ down 5 pant sizes
~ my daughter can fit her arms all the way around me now
~ I can keep up in my bootcamp class with the people who were always the first ones done :-)
I still have a ways to go but am so happy with the progress so far!0 -
Realized on Sunday when I sat down on the pew in Church that I could feel bones through my butt. It's been years!
Also LOVE leg crossing.
I can get on my hands and knees to see if the cat's gone under the bed, then get up without pulling myself up on furniture.
My blood pressure is stabilized at less than 115 over less than 70.
I can walk up hills without getting out of breath and go up my stairs, forget something, go back up to get it, get distracted and forget it again, and,go back up a third time without gasping.

When you reach for a belt in the morning and it has nothing to do with "fashionable".
When you are brushing your hair in the bathroom mirror, and you notice and begin admiring your niiiiice looking bicep. So naturally you have to pose a little. (true story)0 -
Some of my favorite NSVs have been:
-Being able to admire my jawlife for the first time in years
-Getting compliments from relatives, coworkers, classmates...
-Looking better in my prom dress than I did 5 years ago, when I graduated xD
But last week was one of the most important ones: I managed to finally run 10K nonstop, and I improved my 10K time by 14 minutes!0 -
Recent NSVs:
1.) My muscles are sore, and I LOVE the feelings. My thighs, shoulders, and sides are burning.
2.) I haven't touched a soda in a while.
3.) I picked up my fitness regimen yesterday after being off of it for months, and I LOVE IT!
4.) I ran yesterday without a shirt on (sports bra, sweat band around stomach, shorts, socks, and shoes); and I didn't feel too self-conscious.0 -
A few of my NSV's that made me feel good:
1. My feet are narrower, and an old pair of shoes that were too narrow before now fit perfectly.
2. A guy commented on how tough my workout looked (happened today!)
3. I can feel my spine when I bend over, and I can feel my ribs.
4. I can comfortably cross not only my legs, but my arms too! That wasn't comfortable before.
5. My belly button is now round and not squished.
6. I've now belted my belt up four holes from where I started at.
7. My cankles have turned into ankles.0
